Since February, I have made a conscious effort to start each day reflecting, goal setting and focusing on gratitude. It’s a practice that I learned from the wonderful Rachel Hollis. She would
Hot Spot of the Week: F45 Glen Ellyn
When we made the decision to move to Wheaton, from the city, I was both excited and sad. So excited because we were going to be able to raise our baby boy (Cabot) in the area that I grew up in and close to family. But sad to leave the life that Brett and I had built, friends, activities and one of the biggest things, a gym we both loved.
For the first year and a half, I still worked downtown and commuted every day. Oh how I hated it. The only positive of my schedule was that I was close enough to my old gym to go and take some of their lunchtime classes. But when I could no longer take the commute and time away from Cabot, I made the switch to a job in the burbs.
To throw a little more chaos into switching jobs, I found out I was pregnant with Paxton the week I started. Favorite employee right here, sorry new bosses. I spent the next 9 months learning everything I could about my new job, running to doctor’s appointments in the city and trying to soak up as much time with Cabot as I could. Needless to say, my personal health was not even close to making it into my prorities.
Fast forward a bit, Paxton is about 6 months old and it has been a heck of a few months. New baby, adjusting from 1 to 2 kids, a breast cancer diagnois for my grandma (basically a second mom for me) and then her passing soon after, and to top it off then going back to work and trying to ‘balance” it all. I was in desperate need of something, I wasn’t sure exactly what it was, but I knew that I needed to do something for me or things were going to get really tough, really fast.
Enter F45 Glen Ellyn! I would drive past their studio every morning on my way to work and one day I finally bit the bullet and tried their free trial. Oh my gosh, I was hooked. The classes are so versitile, something different everyday. The trainers are amazing, very knowledgeable and so much fun. They pump you up when you need it, cheer you on and are just all around great!
I started with their 8 classes a month option and by about the third month I was running out of classes long before the month was over. I made the switch to their unlimited package and have never looked back. I attend their 5:45 a.m. classes everyday during the week and the 6:30 a.m. class on Saturdays. This is my ME time, and I rarely give it up.
Now let me get really honest here, I have NEVER been the type of person who loves to workout, the type that can’t miss a workout, the type that jumps out of bed to get to class, but F45 Glen Ellyn has made me that way.
Their classes have me in the best shape of my mom life, helped me lose the baby weight and have made me so much stronger, both mentally and physically. I have met some of the nicest people in their classes, some who have turned into AMAZING friends.
F45 Glen Ellyn is my happy place, my stress reliever, my therapy. It has gotten me through some tough times and I will always be greatful for that. Thank you to eveyone who works there, you guys always have a smile on your face, some dance moves up your sleeves and a true “this is family” attitude!
To anyone who hasn’t tried them, stop by, you WILL NOT be disappointed!! I hope to see you in a class soon!
